Maserati Ghibli

Maserati Ghibli

In a world dominated by German sedans, Italian car manufacturers are taking a stab at the “it’s got room for the kids, honey” market. The Ghibli is Maserati’s latest marque to arrive with gorgeous curves, and a range of engines that’ll have most petrol heads getting hot under the collar. Gone are the days when a “sensible” family car means driving something both boring and slow, Maserati condemn this notion to the past, offering the Ghibli with a base 345bhp, twin turbo’d 3.0L V6, whilst an “S” version offers a tasty 404bhp. Power is delivered to the rear wheels from the 8 speed auto gearbox, enabling a few Ken Block style manoeuvres on the way to pick up your groceries.  There’s even a diesel model for those looking for a more economical ride, but with a 0-62mph time of less than 5.6 seconds, it’ll be all too tempting to plant your right foot at the sniff of a straight section of road. Inside the cabin, expect nothing less than an Italian supercar’s worth of leather, beautifully finished trims and an overall quality which might make you forget this car isn’t actually from Germany.
