Porsche Cayman GTS

Porsche Cayman GTS

It’s definitely the most highly tuned and refined Cayman Porsche have ever built, with  the best exhaust note we’ve heard in a long time. Nipping quite uncomfortably at the heels of entry level 911’s in the performance stakes, Porsche’s top of the range Cayman isn’t exactly revolutionary but has all of the necessary ingredients to be an incredible car. The increases in power over the Cayman S are far from huge, but the additional 14bhp and 7lb ft torque all count towards propelling you from 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds when fitted with the optional PDK gearbox. The flat six 3.4L sounds sublime with every note resonating from the stainless steel sports exhaust. Style wise there’s a simple restyling across elements such as the new rear spoiler, black air intakes, smoked rear lights, black effect bi-xenon headlights and the exclusive black GTS badge at the rear – all nods towards this Cayman being a little more special than standard. With options galore you’ll need to be careful keeping the price below that of a 911, with carbon ceramic brakes costing upwards of $7,000. As you’d expect the chassis is truly marvellous, it’s a Cayman after all – the firmed up suspension is a delight on the track, but also manages to swallow up enough of the bumps out and around town. It’s quite possibly the perfect weekend toy, bags of performance and a soundtrack that you’ll never get bored of.
